What training do you have that helps in your current role?
I’ve trained as a teacher, and I’ve worked in retail many a time over the years, so I’ve got the people skills, patience, and ability to ask the right directed questions to ensure we find the dream ring that the customer is picturing!
How long have you worked in the jewellery industry/your current role?
Before Jess hired me, I’d never worked in the industry! In her words “you’re my wildcard, but I think you might be worth it!“. She took a chance on me, and I’ve enjoyed every minute, so I like to think her risk paid off!
Tell me about how it is working in your team
My team is FAB. We all bring something slightly different to the table, whether it’s the ability to remember rings going back years, incredible creativity, great problem-solving skills, or simply just boosting everyone’s morale. We work together to create each customer’s ring - no individual sales targets means we genuinely value each other’s abilities, and rely on each other to help create beautiful pieces of jewellery.
What is the best thing about your job?
Staff discount? No, it’s actually the people. My colleagues are a sheer joy to be around, and the customers are all brilliant too! One of the customers actually pointed me in the direction of a wedding dress shop where I eventually bought my dress - thanks Rachel!
What has been a career/job highlight for you?
Outside of Jessica Flinn, I really enjoyed my job as a youth worker - teenagers are great, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise! I got to present to potential funders, and help to raise money to help young people. Inside Jessica Flinn, it’s been travelling to a trade show, and being nominated for the Retail Jeweller 30 Under 30 after only being in my job for 18 months!
What’s your favourite piece and why?
My favourite Flinn & Steel piece is the Wharncliffe as it’s the ring my partner wears!

What training do you have that helps in your current role?
Prior to working at Jessica Flinn Fine Jewellery I worked at a luxury jewellery retailer for four years where I was a Senior Sales Advisor and the ambassador for Montblanc! It was here where I learned a lot about the jewellery industry and lots of technical information which has been key in my role here!
How long have you worked in the jewellery industry/your current role?
I’ve worked in the jewellery industry for over four years now and I’ve loved every minute of it! In terms of my time at Jessica Flinn, I’ve been here for six wonderful months.
Tell me about how it is working in your team
Working with my team is honestly a blast. We're like a big, happy family. We share ideas, we share jokes, and most importantly, we share our support. It's not all business here; we mix in a good dose of fun and laughter with our work. That balance makes our team feel like home, a place where we can be both productive and have a good ol' giggle.
What is the best thing about your job?
Without a doubt the best thing about my job is the customers. I love working closely with customers to help them find their dream piece, it’s truly a magical experience to collaborate with people at such a special time in their lives.
What has been a career/job highlight for you?
I’d say my career highlight was when I was made Senior Sales Advisor in my previous role after only working there for less than a year. I started as a Watch Repair Administrator but after understanding and appreciating where my skills lie, I was offered the position of Senior Sales Advisor which was amazing!
What’s your favourite piece and why?
My two favourite pieces are Celeste and Elspeth, they’re so unique to our brand in terms of their style and not at all what you’d see on the highstreet. The salt and pepper versions are especially my favourite, I love that you can see all the inclusions in the gemstones, it’s their difference that makes them beautiful!
