When and Where to Wear Your Silicone Ring

It can be hard to get used to wearing a ring, let alone getting to grips with the rules of when and what to wear. Our alternative material rings are TOUGH, but they’re not invincible. So if you want your wedding ring to keep its finish over the years, it’ll need looking after.

For every task you need a different tool, right? And we’ve got the tools you’ll need to nail this newlywed thing.

What are Silicone Wedding Rings?

To stop your wedding ring getting bashed about, there are some situations where you just shouldn't wear it. Rings can break, get lost, or put you in danger, and although wearing a wedding ring might take some getting used to, taking it off after a month feels even weirder.

The fix: silicone wedding rings. Designed to be easily removable and cheap to replace, silicone rings are for anyone who wants to get on with their life without stressing over their real wedding ring getting damaged. Made of food-grade silicone, our Sidekick rings are ideal for wearing during adventurous activities or manual work.

When Should I Wear A Silicone Wedding Ring?

For electricians who don't fancy getting zapped, gym rats who don't want to dent their everyday ring doing pull-ups, and the tourist who will 100% drop their ring in the sea on day one - silicone rings are for you!

If you’re doing any kind of manual work, you should be wearing your silicone ring. Ever seen the videos where they have to cut someone's wedding ring off cause their hand got stuck? Wouldn't it be brilliant if they could just flex out of the way with a stretchy silicone ring? Same goes for your grandad’s old wedding ring that’s now more of a wonky square because he refused to take it off. Swap it out for a silicone wedding ring whenever it could get damaged, and keep your alternative metal wedding ring looking quality.

Are Silicone Rings Safe?

They’re not just a convenient way to avoid losing your ring, they are for safety purposes too. Many jobs mean you can’t wear metal jewellery in case of injury, but a silicone ring is not a conductor of heat or electricity and it isn't going to get too tight to remove.

Still gotta be sensible though folks, when there’s a risk of a spinning mechanism that could catch, it's a no ring zone, even silicone rings. Ask your employer if you're unsure of what safety measures you need to take.

Choosing Your Silicone Wedding Ring Size

Silicone rings mean not as much faffing about with getting your ring size exactly right, because there's a lot more give. No more Summer swelling either, your silicone wedding ring will stretch as your fingers get bigger in the heat, and come back down to normal in the winter.

If you’ve got a ring already, just tell us your existing size, and we will match your silicone ring to that. If not, we’ve got you covered with a free ring sizer with every ring purchased (just select send me a ring sizer), and our Ring Size Guide to help out with any questions.

Are Silicone Rings STRETCHY?

Are silicone rings stretchy? I mean, that’s kind of the best bit.

No more stress over getting the fit right, it’ll move with your hands. And as our hands usually get larger as we get older, your silicone ring will gradually stretch with your finger, so you can keep on wearing your silicone wedding ring for years to come.

Can Silicone Rings Shrink?

There’s been some chat about boiling your silicone wedding ring to make it smaller. So, let's just clear it up now: that’s not gonna work (and it's a bit weird??) It might seem like the silicone ring has shrunk when you first take it out, but once it cools down it’ll just relax back to its original size.

But this is what makes silicone rings great, they’re cheap enough to replace if that extra stretch isn't enough. You’re not going to fork out £100+ for a resize like you would with a precious metal ring, and you aren't coughing up double that for a brand new alternative metal ring. It’s under twenty quid, and you can wear the original ring on a different finger or pass it onto a mate!
